The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 emphasizes the importance of promoting Indian culture and values in schools. It recognizes the need for children to have a strong foundation in their cultural traditions, while also being able to appreciate and respect the diverse manifestations thereof. By promoting Bharatiyata in schools, the NEP seeks to create a system of education that is rooted in India’s cultural heritage, while also preparing the students for the globalized world in the 21st century.
Samvit Research Foundation, Bengaluru, with one of its missions being creation of Bharat-centric resources and dissemination of Indian Knowledge System, is in alignment with the objectives of NEP- 2020. With the aim of furthering the rich cultural heritage of our country, through celebration of Indian festivals in schools, Samvit has designed a Module for the purpose, namely, SAMVIT UTSAVA BHARATI.
In this Module, a Teacher’s guide has been created to facilitate the teachers in effectively conducting these festivals in schools. These well conducted festivals encourage and enable students to imbibe India’s rich cultural heritage, understand the significance of each of these festivals, and develop a sense of bonding. The Module fosters a spirit of inclusiveness among the students and makes them appreciate the different shades of our unique culture.
Please watch the video of the KRISHNA JANMASHTAMI celebration with the children of the RK Public school. This was conducted by using the Samvit Teacher’s Guide. The Teacher’s Guide, with detailed procedure, is available on our website. (click this link to view the Guide).
